Hey there! Beginner game developer starting at the bottom here. I'm starting with tutorial projects to get the hang of things and to just get things out there, but I have big plans for the future of this career, which is explained more deeply below. I would love to build a close community/following and have my future projects for the most part have community involvement as one of the big pillars of their development. If you'd like to watch a serious game dev start from the bottom and work their way up, definitely stick around, and perhaps take a peek at some of my work, even if for now it's just Sad Flappy Bird and lots of dreaming. I'll link my socials and other links eventually once I get everything set up, but Itch.io is a start. Anyways, to pivot to what I said about my future plans and goals:
Roadmap for the far future
I would absolutely love to, in the far future, found a community-first studio built on a radical optional payment only model (also built on using absolutely NO predatory ads, NO annoying MTX, and by NO means any P2W content or ludicrous prices whatsoever), transparency, honesty, loyalty, and the 3 big values, those being Community Engagement, Community Involvement, and Community Interaction. This studio would be an anti-crunch, and very prominently, anti-corporate studio. I imagine the actual studio being a smaller sized one, having the main lights off always—never once on, colorful LED light strips along the walls, where they meet the ceiling, plants everywhere, blackout curtains amongst all the windows, comfy furniture, and a very family-oriented development team (which I refer to as the Dev Squad) that would work together at an oval table (absolutely no cubicles or generic office culture). This studio would be as I like to say, a sanctuary, not only for one particular group or person, but when I use that word, I mean it would be a sanctuary for me, since I've dealt with a lot of mental health issues, some in which have yet to be resolved unfortunately, the Dev Squad, since it would be mental health focused and would be human first before the work, and the community, since this studio and its products would be a way to escape the current very greedy and loud industry, and since the games and products, I hope, would be experiences for the player, and the ideas I have planned fit this sort of sanctuary vibe as well. For an example but not final schedule obviously, I imagine a mandatory 3 day weekend (Friday to Sunday), and a merely 32-hour workweek with workdays looking something like 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM.
Roadmap for the near future
I want to continue working on smaller projects and following tutorials for now to grasp the basics, however, I do also plan on updating them as I get better, which I'll announce with Devlogs and in the game listings themselves. This is a simple start, and I really wanted to type more here (especially in the section above), but there is a limit. I might type out all of my plans and ideas somewhere else and link it here when I get everything set up.
Starting from the bottom of the mountain is very menacing, but I'm ready to take it on, and I have a lot of project & community ideas for the future. With all that being said, thank you so much for checking out my bio, and if you wouldn't mind having an extra followed account, maybe follow me, for future updates and games!
